Eating disorders
Eating disorders are serious mental illnesses that involve disordered eating behaviour. This might mean limiting the amount of food eaten, eating very large quantities of food at once, getting rid of food eaten through unhealthy means (e.g. purging, laxative misuse, fasting, or excessive exercise), or a combination of these behaviours.
It’s important to remember that eating disorders are not all about food itself, but about feelings. The way the person interacts with food may make them feel more able to cope, or may make them feel in control.

ELSA
ELSA stands for Emotional Literacy Support Assistant. We are a team within school who will help children to learn and understand their emotions and respect the feelings of those round them. We provide the time and space for them to think about their personal circumstances and how to deal with them. Giving them the ability to engage with learning whilst facing life challenges that may detract from that.
The ELSA contact for St Lawrence has a wealth of experience in promoting the emotion health and well-being of children and young people. More information about the role can be found here:

Family Hub
Our Federation is keen to support families through Telford & Wrekin’s Family Hubs.
Family Hubs are one-stop centres where families can get free information, guidance and support on infant feeding, mental health, healthy lifestyles and many other services.
Bringing all this support together in one place is a huge advantage for families, as they can go for face-to-face advice and extra help right in their own community, when they need it.
Visit www.telford.gov.uk/familyhubs to keep up to date with the local support available.
Together, we can help every family and child in Telford and Wrekin to get the right help, at the right time.
Family Support
We are fortunate enough to work with the Newport cluster led by Burton Borough School. This gives us access to their family support worker who assists some of our families in need of practical or emotional support, particularly when difficulties arise around parenting and the wellbeing of children.
If you believe who may benefit from accessing the support they provide please contact us via a3109@telford@gov.uk

PEGS – Parental Education Growth Support
Supporting parents and professionals with child to parent abuse
Child to Parent Abuse is complex and misunderstood – partly because it has historically been largely ignored in favour of a focus on intimate partner abuse, partly because it is drastically under-reported, and partly because there are lots of misconceptions around the subject.
Some parents may not recognise what is happening to them as abuse – but the behaviours they are experiencing are abuse, and they are not okay.
