Hello and welcome to Class 4, which is home to our oldest children in school: Year 5 and 6. Mrs Hemmings is the class teacher in this class, supported by Mrs Sankey, Miss Jukes and Mrs Jenkins. We love making learning come alive, for example going caving so we understand how it would feel to be down a mine or cracking ciphers like the computing heroes of WW2 at Bletchley Park!
During the Autumn term this year, Class 4 have taken on the role as travel agents to sell holidays to the fictional town of Glockenheim, the setting for our first novel of the year ‘Clockwork’ by Philip Pullman. They have also considered the moral dilemmas faced by characters in our second novel ‘An Eagle in the Snow’ by Michael Morpurgo and debated whether the characters actions were right or wrong, using their thoughts around the Christian values we uphold.
Having had some practice in class with debating, four of our team went on to debate in the Telford School’s RE debates and articulated brilliantly the reasons why we should always choose to be the Good Samaritan.
Also this term, Class 4 have been on a residential visit to Condover Hall, where children enjoyed a wide range of outdoor activities such as raft building, rock climbing, abseiling and archery tag.
