Spring Term Attendance

A big congratulations to the 36 children who made it to school every day last term. We always talk to the children about the importance of good attendance, and the impact missing school can have on their learning, so we are so pleased that our pupils want to get to school as much as they can.

Thank you for your support with attendance. We do understand that sometimes a child is just too poorly, and are grateful for the communication you have with school when this is the case. Remember, if you think your child may be well enough, try a dose of Calpol and send them in- if they are too poorly or get worse, we will always get in touch with you to come and collect them.

Let’s aim high for summer term- so many children only missed one day or even half a day, perhaps we can have over 40 children on 100% for this last term of the school year.

Welcome Back

Welcome back to the Summer term!

We hope you all had a wonderful Easter break, celebrating signs of summer and new life, and rejoicing that Christ is risen.

There are lots of exciting learning opportunities planned for this term, and the staff are working hard (as usual) to make sure that the children have fun whilst learning. We are looking forward to sharing all of your child’s successes with you at the upcoming parents meetings- make sure you sign up via the office communications.

Choir Performance

This evening, the wonderful school choir performed at Burton Borough School i Newport as part of The Newport Big Sing.

They performed two songs (Power in Me and I’m a Believer) as a solo choir, and then joined children from 4 other Telford schools to sing Stand by Me and How Far I’ll Go.

The children did an amazing job, and sang their hearts out in very hot conditions! They have worked very hard to be ready for this performance. on the back of one at Charlton school last week, and we are very proud of them.

Thank you for all the support we had from family and friends- the children were really proud to have you all there.

Shropshire Cross Country

On Saturday 16th March, children from Tibberton and St Lawrence schools took part in the Shropshire Athletics Cross Country competition at Concord College near Acton Burnell.

Over 40 children from the federation took part, and we were all so proud of their amazing efforts, resilience and perseverance. The conditions were very muddy, and some children even finished the race carrying a shoe that had come off in the mud!

It was heart-warming to see children cheering each other on, and running back to support those who were maybe struggling with the run more that others. Amazing teamwork and camaraderie. Thank you as well to the parents and other adults who cheered the children on- we definitely had the best supporters there!

The children ran in 5 categories- Year 5 girls, Year 5 boys, Year 6 girls, Year 6 boys and a Year 3 & 4 mixed fun run. Overall, the Year 6 girls came 2nd, Year 5 boys 4th, Year 6 girls 4th and Year 6 boys 2nd. These were all amazing achievements given that we were up against runners from athletics clubs across Shropshire.

Well done again to everyone who took part, and a big thank you to everyone who came along to the event.

Telford Sings Event

The school choir did an amazing job of singing in Telford Sings at Charlton School on Friday evening. They learnt the words to 6 different songs, and even some actions as well. They sang clearly and beautifully, bringing smiles and tears to the audience with the expression they gave to the songs.

Thank you to all of the parents and wider family members who came to support the children- we’re looking forward to the next singing event on Wednesday!

Extreme Reading

We have extended the deadline for entries to our Extreme Reading challenge- the new deadline is Thursday 21st March, after which time entries are still welcome but the prizes will have been allocated.

Please email or Seesaw your entries in to school, we can’t wait to see your creative (but safe) extreme reading.

Well done to Emmie for facing wild animals to be able to read her book!

World Book Day Door Design

The children in Class 3 held a competition to see who could come up with the best design for their classroom door- the chosen design was by Soraya, and I’m sure you’ll agree it was a great choice.

World Book Day Door

The children in Class 2 did a wonderful job creating their own potions for the World Book Day door competition.

This design was linked to the well-loved book ‘George’s Marvellous Medicine’ and the children had some amazing ideas for medicine, including to be kind and to be a good Christian, as well as being young and a princess.

We also won the door competition, judged by Mr Battrick! Well done, Class 2!

Choir Rehearsal

This morning, the St Lawrence choir went over to Tibberton school to meet some of the Armonico Consort staff supporting the concert at the Royal Albert Hall to have a rehearsal together.

The children worked hard and sang very well, especially considering they have not heard some of these songs before.

We are very excited to share the performance with you, either in July in London, or performed in school for those family members unable to attend.

World Book Day

What a fabulous day we have had for World Book Day!

The children, and staff, looked amazing and have enjoyed book-based activities throughout the day: story time with different members of staff, craft activities, improv drama, bookmark design and more. The whole school has enjoyed getting involved and celebrating books and the joy of reading.

Winners of the ‘Design a Box’/ ‘Design a Potato’ competition were: Emmie, Elsie, Oliver and Owain. All of the entrants did a great job and we were so impressed.

Children also enjoyed taking part in story time in The Hideaway at lunchtime, led by our Year 4 sport leaders. They read with great expression and kept the interest of the children who came to listen.

With the launch of our Extreme Reading competition today, we look forward to seeing how reading takes place in your home, and also to keep the love of books going.
